What to record for your AI clone

Your reference material shapes the clone. Collect clear examples of how you look, sound, and explain your work before choosing a production workflow.

Choose the use before the tool

A clone for short teaching videos has a different job from a voice agent answering offer questions. Define what you want to make, where it will appear, and who approves it. Then check the chosen provider's current recording requirements before the shoot.

Capture your knowledge

Write down the audience you help, your offer, common questions, exclusions, and the claims you can support. Add real explanations in your own words. A clear answer to a common objection is more useful than a page of brand adjectives.

Keep private client details out of general reference material. Use redacted or fictional examples when the original is not appropriate to share.

Record clean voice material

  • Use a quiet space and a consistent microphone position.
  • Speak naturally, at the pace you want the output to use.
  • Include the terms and names you say often.
  • Avoid background music and overlapping voices.
  • Keep the original files so you can trace and replace poor references.

Recording duration, format, and verification requirements differ by provider. Follow the selected tool's instructions instead of treating one checklist as a universal specification.

Capture useful visual references

Use clear lighting, a visible face, and a stable camera. Follow the provider's directions for framing and movement. Bring examples of the clothing, setting, and level of energy you want in the finished content.

Do not assume one attractive still will produce natural speech or movement. Test the combination of likeness, expression, delivery, and editing on a short piece before producing a batch.

Set permission and review rules

Use only a voice and likeness you are authorized to use. Agree on the purpose, account access, approved uses, and what happens to the material at the end of the engagement.

Check every release for incorrect facts, distorted likeness, unnatural speech, and a misleading impression. Include AI labels or disclosures where the platform or context requires them.
